What a fabulous end of term fun gala we had on Tuesday 29th July, for both session 1 and session 2 in the big pool, we re-instated the Winnie Bowlas Fun Gala, and it was exactly that.
Our swimmers were racing with arm discs, water polo balls, t-shirt and floats and in relays and full team events.
We understand that not everyone enjoys racing, that was fine. We mixed up the ability we had older swimmers teaming up with younger swimmers, everyone was able to get involved and they did, there was cheering and encouragement from all members of the teams, helpers supporting in the water* and helpers getting involved with the racing too.
For all those that took part well done, the results are below, but it really wasn’t about the winning it was great to see so many swimmers smiling, some were undoubtably nervous, they’d never done anything like this before, maybe they’ll never want to try again. But they did try, each and everyone of them gave it their all, that’s all we ask.
If you missed don’t worry we’ll do it again soon.
Hope you and your family’s have a lovely summer, stay safe and we’ll see you on the 2ND September.
Anna
Team Manager

An extra special mention to Andy Larner and Daisy Baxter, who helped give the confidence to one of the members of their team in the first session who had never jumped in the deep end before, this is what our club is best at, empowering swimmers to achieve what we know they can do.
